Heritage Architecture Study
Content / education · two study handbooks + a Central Axis bookmark series
Turning the “looking” at historic architecture into “reading” it. I designed two study handbooks on traditional Chinese architecture for young readers (v4.1 and an enhanced younger-reader v3.0), plus a Beijing Central Axis bookmark series. Through hand-drawn illustration and layered dissection, things that are “too complex to make sense of” — bracket sets, roof ranks, spatial order — become something you can read page by page.
A two-track design of illustration plus information hierarchy: the illustration builds an aesthetic entry point, while the dissection diagrams and text carry the knowledge transfer. The Central Axis bookmark series takes five landmarks along Beijing's Central Axis as its units, turning the city's spatial order into collectible single sheets.
